Allergies are very common in humans and their triggers vary uniquely for each person. If you’ve have allergies all your life, then you probably know what triggers them. What are Essential Oils?

Essential oils are distilled or pressed from the leaves of plants, stems, roots or other parts of aromatic plants. Each type of oil has a unique chemical composition, smell and reaction within the body when ingested. With aromatherapy, when the receptors in your nose collect the compounds of the aroma, the oil is allowed to cross into your bloodstream, organs and brain to provide noticeable and beneficial effects in your body.

There are many ways to properly use essential oils for your health and wellbeing. Some love the aroma and add drops to their linens, floor or mix a few drops in a bowl of water. You can also mix it in with your favorite lotion or massage oil so that the essential oils can absorb through your skin. Some can even be ingested with water to soothe and cleanse the digestive tract. A favorite way to use them, however, is by adding a few drops to a diffuser like this one that adds a calming and fragrant mist to your room.

The benefits of essential oils have been praised for thousands of years and have become a major part of culture and medicine in many parts of the world. The most prevalent use for essential oils in alternative medicine is in modern aromatherapy, which has recently been rediscovered in the 80’s. This is because many essential oils carry antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, and antimicrobial properties as well.
