Natural Seasonal Hay Fever Treatment that Heals Allergies and Doesn’t Cause Addiction

The changing of the seasons is always beautiful to watch and it’s something to look forward to. But, you may not be looking forward to the allergy season. You can be allergic to any season, but you probably identify with one of them and dread that time of the year for yourself. Seasonal hay fever treatment provides healing for your over reactive immune system without making the problem worse for the long term like OTC antihistamines do.

Different types of pollen will start to be spread throughout the air your breathe and your body will try to deal with the new overload.

Conveniently, the drug companies schedule their advertisements on television and radio during the  beginning of each allergy season to target allergy sufferers that are struggling through the toughest time. These advertisements are likely appealing to you because they offer a quick solution to your problems: an end to your annoying hay fever symptoms.

However, many of you will realize that once you starting taking these drugs, your body reacts in a way that kind of develops a dependency on the antihistamine or steroid.

Yeah, you are literally becoming addicted to them. You might even be considering that but denying it, but there is so much evidence to show that chronic use of antihistamines for hay fever can hurt your health in the long term.

Drug Companies Want You to Use Antihistamines for Seasonal Hay Fever

It’s likely that the pharmaceutical companies know about the addictive capabilities for their drugs. While they may help allergy symptoms be clearer for the short term, many people claim that a strong dependency develops within them and they feel horrible with their allergies worse when they stop taking the OTC medication. (Source)

Many report that antihistamine withdrawal symptoms can be debilitating, as if you are craving it very strongly and need it. Don’t we see this sort of thing with opiate or alcohol abusers?

Why are allergy treatments affecting us so powerfully in this way?

Is it really worth the effects on your health?

In the recent decade, many mothers and fathers have been shocked by conclusive research that was released about chronic use of first-generation antihistamines like Benadryl and Claritin for seasonal hay fever symptoms. Apparently,  overuse of these allergy drugs was strongly linked to development of Alzheimer’s disease and other central nervous system problems according to a few reputable studies.

I think that this is shocking because so many mothers relied on Benadryl to keep their kids’ noses unclogged and rested through the night. I’m not sure these parents even recognized a potential risk to giving them to their children. This may have harmed the long-term health of the children in some way.

Natural Antihistamines are Great Treatments for Seasonal Hay Fever

Food sources can contain natural antihistamine compounds that effectively treat allergies and don’t cause a harsh dependency. Fresh foods, as well as natural supplements, can be a simple and inexpensive alternative to OTC drugs.

However, the first thing that you should consider when trying to treat your allergies is that diet and lifestyle trump every other factor of your health. You definitely should try to examine the harmful things you can do to your body: not sleep, drink alcohol, do drugs, eat fried foods, etc. Then, try to eat less quantity of food and with better quality nutrition value that follows an “everything in moderation” line.

Certain foods and supplements can be added to your diet to complement your lifestyle changes and challenge of treating annoying seasonal hay fever symptoms.

Organic Quercetin for Seasonal Hay Fever Treatment

Quercetin is a natural flavonoid that creates a beautiful silver hue that can be found on some vegetables and flowers. This is most notable on an onion, which is full of quercetin. The heavy concentration of organic quercetin feels physically spicy in your mouth and attributes with the freshness of the onion.

As a supplement, quercetin is completely natural and actually preferred by many allergists and child doctors because it does not cause a dependency or reward reaction in your brain when you consume it for seasonal hay fever. (Source)

quercetin with bromelain for seasonal allergy symptoms

This is the one that I use. It’s specifically formulated with bromelain to help seasonal allergy symptoms.

Good sources of organic quercetin in your diet include:

  • Garlic
  • Onions
  • Apples
  • Tea
  • Broccoli
  • Leafy greens
  • Berries

In higher concentrations in natural supplements, you will notice the other benefits of quercetin as well, including:

  • Increased levels of energy
  • Powerful antioxidant value
  • Increased mental alertness
  • Improved physical resistance and endurance

The best natural quercetin supplements for allergies that I’ve tried is the cheapest here. This is where I usually get mine. It’s not really necessary to get a fancy organic quercetin supplement because this does the job nicely. It’s formulated for allergy sufferers because they add the digestive enzyme bromelain, which helps break down inflammatory immune chemicals like histamine that would otherwise be floating around in your bloodstream.

Omega 3 Fatty Acids for Hay Fever Treatment

Timeless amounts of research has strongly suggested that omega fatty acids can reduce inflammation in the body. In turn, this means that seasonal allergy symptoms are likely to be reduced because they are caused by inflammation caused by an immune reaction. (Source)

These healthy fats can be consumed with cold-water fish (salmon is the best) and nuts. There seems to be an ideal ratio that everybody’s genetics seem to be unique to. Some people will require a higher amount of Omega-3 (Found in healthy vegetables and fish) to Omega-6 (Found in greasy fried foods, meat and vegetable oils).

Omega 3 deficiency is a common problem for people in the first world that consume too much meat. Symptoms of omega 3 deficiency include:

  • Weak heart with unsteady beat
  • Poor memory and ability to learn
  • Brittle skin and nails
  • Hair falling out
  • Fast aging
  • Poor mood management and sleep quality
  • Many more are possible

If you think that getting enough healthy ratio of healthy omega-3 fatty acids, then natural oil supplementation has been proven for efficiency and absorption. It is important that the fish oil supplement that you buy for your seasonal hay fever symptoms does not include crude materials that ruin the quality and absorption of the oil.

krill oil for omega 3 and seasonal allergy treatment

A very well-reviewed and high-quality formula is inexpensive and makes me feel amazing! I take one every day.

The most healthy and environmentally friendly omega 3 supplement for allergies is krill oil because research suggests that it is superior with absorption and omega fatty acid overall ratio. I use this well-reviewed supplement at a great price here. These high quality supplements are usually double the price of this in stores.

Sulfur Deficiency May Cause Seasonal Hay Fever Symptoms

Over the past couple of decades, soils have seen a decrease in the amounts of bioavailable minerals for crop absorption through its roots. This likely has caused sulfur to be a trace mineral in our foods that we need much more of. (Source)

It is difficult to get enough sulfur from your diet because vegetables likely don’t contain much unless you buy all organic produce.

In fact, sulfur deficiency may likely be a major problem for you if you suffer from seasonal hay fever.

However, it is simple, easy and inexpensive to get a more-than-adequate dose of organic bioavailable sulfur through a natural supplement: MSM crystals.

Organic MSM crystals will give you a quick dose of sulfur that is easily absorbed into your bloodstream. While there, it acts as an antioxidant that can stop the action of inflammatory chemicals. MSM stays in your system for 12 hours, so you can see that one small dose can treat hay fever symptoms for half a day. This is when MSM starts to chemically break down because of its half-life in the body.

Organic MSM crystals for seasonal symptoms of hay fever

A viewer recommended this to me and now I use it every day! This is the cheapest and best quality I could find!

MSM is the organic and bioavailable form of sulfur that our cells use. In fact, all plants and animals use MSM in their cells.

And you can take it in this supplement form!

I was deficient and sulfur it seemed, and after I took one dose, my allergies seemed to not be a problem anymore. I take a dose every other day now for allergy and beauty benefits.

Bottom Line for Seasonal Allergies

I remember a few years ago when I didn’t actively research about my allergies and how debilitating every day was. I have tried these things to treat the root cause of my allergies organically and it has done wonders for me in the long run.

These few things have really helped me feel much better every day when I wake up in the morning and I suggest that you try one if you have seasonal hay fever, as I do.

I am always here for you, so if you have something to add or a question about hay fever that is seasonal, please leave me a comment below!

  1. Hi! I had been supplementing with MSM for about 2 years (powdered tablet) with great results for my seasonal allergies. Then I stopped. Last week, the allergies hit me like a ton of bricks and I was barely functional. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, Hashimoto’s, and am histamine intolerant, gluten sensitive, and have suffered with digestive complaints my whole life. I am trying to pull together a new protocol of natural remedies (after emergency intervention with Nasalcrom): DAO, Quercitin, and MSM (crystals this time)–hoping to knock out not only the allergies, but also assist my body with the other inflammatory issues as well. Based on your personal experience, what starting doses do you recommend? Thank you!

Very good idea to switch to crystal MSM because they are so much more bio-available. I’m not sure if the powdered tablets work at all, in my experience. I would definitely consider DAO for the first few weeks and then switching to quercetin as needed. You shouldn’t be dependent on these, though. Let me know what you think!
